TV personality Fred Talbot was back in Garstang on Friday to launch the 2008 Garstang Walking festival.
Fred, best known as the face of the Granada weather forecast, attracted a large crowd for the event, which is now an established part of Garstang's tourist-boosting activities.
As part of the festival, organised walks took place during the bank holiday weekend and are continuing until next Sunday.
By the time it finishes on Sunday the festival will have featured more than 50 activities, walks and canal cruises.
Coast and Countryside Manager for Wyre Council Alison Boden said: "The festival is a perfect opportunity for people to celebrate the best of springtime and enjoy the stunning scenery of Wyre and the Forest of Bowland."
Miss Boden said amateur photographers had been invited to send in any shots they take while on their walks. Awards will be given to the best and the council is hoping to use them to create a pictorial diary of the festival which may form part of Garstang's entry into Entente Florale later this year.
* Responding to criticism that the High Street car park ladies loos were closed for the start of the walking festival, Rick Smales, Street Scene Manager for Wyre Council, said: "The female toilets at Garstang Discovery Centre had to be closed on Friday, May 2 for refurbishment work but visitors were able to use the facilities at the Tourist Information Centre and the nearby Booths store.
"The toilets were available again on Saturday and will now remain open until after the Garstang Walking festival when they will close for the second phase of refurbishment.''
