RUMOURS that England boss Fabio Capello has been spotted delivering animal feed in Garstang have been laid to rest.
To the disappointment of England fans, the man they imagined was the Italian football manager has instead turned out to be Cliff Clark, a 61-year-old from Cabus.
Cliff has been stopped numerous times over the past few years by football fans mistaking him for Capello, and he is now considering contacting lookalike agencies to see if he can make some money out of his striking resemblance.
Cliff said: "It's more embarrassing than anything. It can happen anywhere in all sorts of different situations.
"I was in a pub in Knott End and I kept getting eyes off these lads.
"It was a bit lively and I thought they might want to cause some trouble, but when I sat down one of them tapped me on the shoulder and said 'I'll give you a tenner for your autograph'. Another took a photo of me.
"When I was delivering feed to one farm, a builder said to me 'When you're manager, make sure you get rid of Lampard!'"
Cliff and Mr Capello were born only a few months apart, but sadly the similarity ends there - Cliff admits that his football skills aren't quite up to scratch.
He said: "I never really played football. The lads at work joke around and say they'll all have to get England shirts so I can coach them!"
And during a recent holiday to Italy, Cliff was disappointed to find he didn't attract any attention.
He said: "I went for a week and never got a word mentioned about it! They must have forgotten what he looks like."
