WE'RE a record breaker - and now it's official following the publication of the 2009 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
Page 124 of the best-seller reveals Garstang's latest claim to fame - the town's hosting of the making of the world's largest hot pot.
The event was organised by Garstang Partnership in October last year, with help from local producers, local chefs, the Army and celebrity chef Loyd Grossman.
It was also awarded an Event of the Year honour by Wyre Tourism Association and was overall winner in the regional Market Towns Awards.
GP officials knew the event had gained a place in Guiness's database, but the event has now received a mention in the latest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, which is now on sale.
GP spokesman Angela Kershaw said: "In 2007, Guinness World Records received 35,692 claims - but only 2,017 made it on to the official database.
"The database holds around 40,000 live and rested records altogether, but the 2009 edition of the 'Guinness World Records Book' only has room for 4,000.
"We are proud to announce that our record can be found on page 124 in the box on the left hand side page of the new book.
"This is just the icing on the cake – or the hotpot - to make the Official Records Book out of 40,000 records!"
