Planners urge 'no' to Garstang wind turbine

AN ill wind may be blowing for the plan for the 127 metre-high wind turbine next to Dewlay's cheese business off the A6 near Garstang.
Planning chiefs at Wyre Council are urging councillors to reject the scheme.
Details of the recommendation to next week's planning meeting were made public today.
A report to next Wednesday's planning committee says the plans should be refused because the proposed turbine is too big, too high and would be out of place in the low lying countryside.
The document says would also be "an incongrous feature" in the rural area.
As reported in last week's Courier more than 300 people have objected to the plans, which will be decided on Wednesday, September 3.
Opponents of the proposal are now hoping councillors will go along with the advice of the planning officers.
Kirkland parish council has told Wyre it has strong objections to the turbine, saying it is too big, out of character with the area. It is also worried about noise and vibrations and worries about a drop in property values.
* The planning meeting, at which members of the public can speak, takes place at the civic centre, Breck Road, Poulton, on Wednesday, September 3 at 2pm.
