THE wind appears have gone out of Dewlay's plans for a giant turbine south of Garstang.
Earlier this month Dewlay's agents, Wind Direct of Lancaster, vowed to appeal against any rejection of their plans for a 127 metre high wind turbine alongside the cheese factory off the A6.
But this week, following Wyre Council's rejection of the £2
.5m plans, Wind Direct have given a more guarded response.
And Dewlay bosses, while stressing they wanted to build on their "green" credentials, said they had listened to the views of the 300 objectors.
Wind Direct spokewoman Rosanna Scurr said this week: "We are currently considering whether to appeal the decisio n or not."
Dewlay operations manager Nick Kenyon said the company "understood and respected'' the opinions and concerns raised by residents in greater Garstang.
He said: "As the government aims for more and more companies to be environmentally aware, at Dewlay we strive to meet this and we will continue to pursue some form of green energy.
"Our pledge to create a greener and more environmentally aware company is borne out of the need not just to protect future generations, but also for us to maintain our position as a key player in an increasingly competitive industry."
Mr Kenyon also thanked those who had supported the plans.
