CRICKET fan John Major bowled over spectators at Garstang by making a surprise appearance at a benefit day for Lancashire cricketer Mal Loye.
The former Prime Minister mingled with supporters at the Riverside ground on Sunday.
Premier from 1990-97, Major turned up with his former Cabinet colleague and current MEP Robert Atkins, who is Garstang's president.
Surrey CCC president Major began by watching local schoolchildren compete in a kwik cricket competition, then saw Garstang under-16s play a Palace Shield under-15 side and finally defied the rain when Lancashire took on a Palace Shield XI.
The weather wiped out the planned Twenty20 when Lancashire were 13 overs into their innings and Major was among 200 spectators who stayed for a nine-overs-a-side thrash which the the Palace Shield side won.
